Toyota Warranty coverage

Toyota is known for its high-quality, efficient and well-built vehicles, but nobody’s perfect. Sometimes things just go wrong in your car. That’s why, for the sake of their drivers, Toyota offers a selection of warranties on their new vehicles. Are you wondering what warranty coverage do I have on my new Toyota vehicle? Well, there are five different types of coverage you have to choose from.

What is covered in your Toyota and how long

Basic Warranty

The basic warranty covers repairs and adjustments needed to correct any problems with materials or workmanship in any part that has been supplied by Toyota. This coverage lasts for the first 36 months or 36,000 miles you own your Toyota. The only exception to this is the wheel alignment and wheel balancing which is covered for either the first 12 months or 12,000 miles of your car, whichever occurs first.

Powertrain Warranty

This warranty covers any repairs needed for in the engine, transmission and transaxle, front wheel drive system and rear-wheel-drive system. This can range from anything such as the front hub and bearings to the engine’s supercharger’s housing and oil pump and timing belt. However, there are certain exceptions which are listed in your Warranty and Maintenance Guide. This coverage lasts for 60 months or your first 60,000 miles.

Emission Performance Warranty

If your car experiences any problems with corrosion and rust, this warranty covers the cost of repairs or replacement for any original body panel. This coverage is for the first 60 months of owning your car, regardless of mileage.

Rust-Through Coverage

With this warranty, if your vehicle doesn’t meet applicable emissions standards that have been determined by an EPA-approved emissions test and the failure results in a penalty to you, Toyota will make all necessary repairs. This warranty is in effect for the first two years or 24,000 miles from the vehicle’s in service date, whichever occurs first.
