Blind Spot Monitor

Toyota Blind Spot Monitor When your vehicle is equipped with the Blind Spot Monitor, your vehicle is able to alert you when you are at risk of running into a vehicle in your blind spot. If another vehicle is driving alongside your vehicle in a spot that is not visible in your side and rearview mirrors, it is in line to be detected by the Blind Spot Monitor. With this helpful feature, you can drive with confidence knowing you’re safer around other vehicles.

You can activate your vehicle’s Blind Spot Monitor by pressing the BSM button to the left of your steering wheel. When the feature is turned on, the button will light up and a chime will sound. Lights on the outside mirror will also temporarily light up as a part of a system check.

When the BSM is activated, if another vehicle enters your vehicle’s blind spot, the light up indicators on your vehicle’s side mirrors will appear on the side the other vehicle is on.

If you turn your blinker on while the blind spot monitor is on, the light up indicator on the side the approaching vehicle is on will flash, alerting you that there may be something in your blind spot.

Toyota Blind Spot Monitor and Rear Cross Traffic Alert

Rear Cross Traffic Alert

With the Rear cross Traffic Alert, drivers are notified when an approaching vehicle crosses their vehicle’s path while backing up. This system is designed to simplify backing up. To use, you must turn on your Blind Spot Monitor. With this technology, your vehicle is able to detect cross traffic behind your vehicle when backing up.

If a vehicle traveling between 5-18 mph passes your vehicle while it is backing up, your RCTA will notify you with a chime and by flashing its indicators. The system only works if your vehicle is moving 5 mph or less. This system is especially helpful with helping drivers avoid collisions while backing out of driveways or parking spots.
